Happy New Year from us all at Bryden Johnson! This year we have something extra to celebrate.
In 2023 Bryden Johnson will be turning 125 years old, with a series of events over the year to mark this special anniversary.
Back on Christmas Day in 1897 Mr Bryden and Mr Fedden got together and (we’d like to think after a hearty Christmas lunch and a few brandies) established the company that was later to become Bryden Johnson. An amazing 125 years later, and Bryden Johnson remains in business to this day.
Things changed in 1922 when Stanley Johnson became a partner and the name of the company was changed to Bryden Johnson, and in 1932 Building and Civil Engineering company Geo Hodges became a client (and are still one of our valued clients today!). In 1942 as World War two progressed, the company moved to Theo Leacock’s (partner at the time) house due to the Blitz.
In the next two decades Bryden Johnson payroll was established (1957) and at the end of the swinging sixties we opened an office in the heart of London, in Cambridge Circus.
In 1975 there was another big move when the offices changed to new premises in Kings Parade, Croydon – where we remain to this day. Many challenges and changes have occurred since the 70s including the economic crash in the early 80s and 90s, but we continue to remain positive and strong even during these global difficulties so that we can help our clients do the same.
“It sounds a cliché, but it’s the people that matter. Whether they be clients or part of the team, the relationships and trust that we build over time continue to be our strength and the reason why we continue to succeed as a business. I’m sure this was the same 125 years ago too!” Jackie Wilding, Managing Director.
