EMMAUS

The first Emmaus opened in 1992 and there are now 29 communities, which is what we call our residential sites, spread across the UK. There are also five Emmaus groups currently working to open new communities.

Emmaus supports more than 850 formerly homeless people. We provide them with support, a home for as long as they need it and meaningful work and training in our social enterprises. We hope to increase our capacity to 1,000 rooms by 2020.

MIND IN CROYDON

Mind in Croydon was started in 1967 and their history is a prime example of Care in the Community. They grew from a tiny organisation financing the refurbishment of a  nearly derelict headquarters building by selling old newspapers and having a nearly new shop in Purley – one of the first in the country.

Mind in Croydon is working to promote good mental health. It seeks to empower people to lead a full life as part of their local community.
